Making its second straight appearance in the super regional round of the NCAA Tournament for the first time in program history, the Oregon baseball team is moving on to take on, starting Saturday at Blue Bell Park in College Station, Texas.
The Ducks (40-18, 19-11 Pac-12) swept through their regional in Santa Barbara last weekend,defeating San Diegothen hostNo. 14 Santa Barbara twice to advance.
The Aggies (47-13, 19-11 SEC) also swept through their regional as the host and No. 3 overall seed in the tournament, defeating Grambling, Texas, and then Louisiana to advance. Texas A&M has an impressive 35-3 record at its home ballpark this season, including the postseason.

Evan Aschenbeck stayed on for the Aggies and retired Oregon's 2-3-4 hitters — Ason Aroz, Chase Meggers, and Drew Smith — in order to end the game.

Oregon sophom*ore Turner Spoljaric inherited a two-out jam after Logan Mercado ended his outing by allowing back-to-back two-out single.
Spoljaric buckled down and got Ali Camarillo to pop up for the third out.

Oregon threatened to climb back into contention after Bennett Thompson drew a leadoff walk and Carter Garate was hit by a pitch, giving the Ducks two on with one out. Texas A&M lifted Chris Cortez from the game and called on senior lefty Evan Aschenbeck.
He got Bryce Boettcher to pop up, then stuck out Mason Neville with an outstanding slider to escape the jam.

Logan Mercado worked his best inning of the day and struck out the Aggies' 9-1-2 hitters in order.

Chris Cortez worked another 1-2-3 inning for Texas A&M and racked up two more strikeouts in the process. He's now at nine strikeouts on the day and is sitting at 76 pitches in 5 1/3 innings.

Mercado worked Oregon's first 1-2-3 inning of the game to hold the Aggies scoreless in the sixth.

Carter Garate reached on a one-out single, and Mason Neville added a two-out walk. But Chris Cortez struck Anson Aroz out swinging to escape the jam.
Bottom of the 5th inning — Texas A&M 10, Oregon 6
Freshman right-hander Ryan Featherston stayed on the mound for Oregon but struggled mightily. He walked the bases loaded and was replaced by senior closer Logan Mercado.
Mercado walked the first batter he faced on fourth pitches to send home a run. Then Kaeden Kent drove in another run with a groundout to first. Jackson Appel followed with an RBI groundout to second.
Top of the 5th inning — Texas A&M 7, Oregon 6
The Ducks went down in order in the fifth. Jacob Walsh smashed a line drive to right field, but it was caught.
Bottom of the 4th inning — Texas A&M 7, Oregon 6
The Aggies chased Oregon starter RJ Gordon in what turned out to be a nightmare inning for the Ducks. LaViolette, Kent, and Schott all had RBI knocks, and Texas A&M exploited two Oregon errors to throw three runs on the board.
Freshman righty Ryan Featherston replaced Gordon with two outs and eventually ended the inning when he got Camarillo to fly out to first.
Gordon's final line on the day was as follows: 3 1/3 innings pitched, 9 hits, 7 runs (6 earned), 4 walks, and 4 strikeouts. He threw 103 pitches, including 61 strikes.

Bryce Boettcher reached on a bunt single for the Ducks, but he was stranded at second as Chris Cortez worked another strong inning for the Aggies.

RJ Gordon's struggles persisted in the third inning. He issued a leadoff double to Jackson Appel, who later advanced to third on a wild pitch. Then, Hayden Schott singled through the right side to trim Oregon's lead to 6-4.

Texas A&M reliever Chris Cortez worked a 1-2-3 inning. He struck out Maddox Molony swinging to end the frame.
Bottom of the 2nd inning — Oregon 6, Texas A&M 3
Travis Chestnut drew a leadoff walk and then advanced to second on a wild pitch. But RJ Gordon picked him off, and then escaped the inning without further damage.
Top of the 2nd inning — Oregon 6, Texas A&M 3
Mason Neville lifted a sacrifice fly with the bases loaded to tie the game. Then, Aroz followed with his second big hit of the day — an RBI single to left, to give the Ducks back the lead.
Chase Meggers kept the momentum going with a two-run double to the left-field gap, and that spelled the end of the day for Texas A&M ace Ryan Prager. The Aggies turned to righty reliever Chris Cortez out of the bullpen. Cortez fanned Drew Smith to end the inning.
Bottom of the 1st inning — Texas A&M 3, Oregon 2
Oregon starter RJ Gordon issued a four-pitch leadoff walk to Gavin Grahovac, and then another walk to Braden Montgomery two batters later. Jackson Appel punished Gordon for the free passes and smashed an RBI single to right field to cut the Ducks' lead in half.
Ted Burton followed with another hard-hit single, but Ducks' left fielder Anson Aroz made a tremendous throw to get Montgomery out while he was trying to score from second. Montgomery, one of the top Major League Baseball draft prospects in the nation, was injured on the play and had to exit the game.
Gordon spiked a 2-2 fastball to Hayden Schott, allowing a run to score from third, and then Schott smashed an RBI single to give Texas A&M a 3-2 lead.
Gordon finally got out of the inning by forcing Caden Sorrell to pop up and end the threat.

Oregon's Anson Aroz launched a towering two-run homer to gift the Ducks an early lead. UO's leadoff man, Mason Neville, cracked a hard-hit single up the middle to start the game.
Chase Meggers followed with an infield single. Then, the Aggies got Drew Smith to roll into a double play for two crucial outs. Jacob Walsh struck out to end the frame.
