Is it free to walk around the 9 11 Memorial? ›
Additional Information. The 9/11 Memorial is free and open to the public seven days a week, 8 a.m.–8 p.m. Outdoor Memorial audio guides are available for purchase on site. Prices listed include all service fees. Museum tickets can be purchased up to six months in advance and include entry to all available exhibitions.

Is it worth going to the 9 11 Memorial? ›
Its a must do in New York! The free outdoor memorial is powerful in itself and the museum experience only deepens the visceral understanding of that day and its aftermath. The exhibits were well-done and easy to navigate, even as it was a bit crowded (even with timed tickets).

What is the difference between the 9 11 Museum and the memorial? ›
Yes there's a difference. The memorial is free to everyone, you just wander around trying to take in the enormity of what happened. You have to pay to go into the Museum which is overwhelming, but worth it. The guided tour of the memorial was very good and we learnt a lot.
Notably, the pool is one of two at the memorial, both in the footprints of the Twin Towers that fell during the terrorist attacks of September 11, 2001. According to the 9/11 Memorial & Museum website, each pool descends 30 feet into a basin and drops 20 more feet into a "central void."

Staff members lead 60-minute guided tours, available daily, during which they examine artifacts to teach about the events surrounding 9/11, its aftermath and the history of the World Trade Center. You can book a tour with admission here.
